When Bernardsville became an independent municipality in 1924, the new board of education was given ownership of the high school and Bernards Township students continued attendance at the school as part of a sending/receiving relationship. Students in Bernards Township had attended Bernardsville High School dating back to 1927. As of 2021, the racial breakdown consists of White (60.9%), Asian (28.3%), Hispanic (6.6%), two or more races (3.4%) and African American (0.8%).
